In early 2015, the staff met with the association to discuss ways in which Destination Gettysburg could be part of the anniversary. From that meeting, it was agreed that the marketing organization could be a key component in sharing with visitors the significance of the guide program and to bring to life the story of a few of the more than 150 guides.
As a result, a series of videos have launched on Destination Gettysburg’s YouTube channel, highlighting the stories of several guides:
More videos are in production and will be released later this year. In the future, Destination Gettysburg plans to use these stories to reach out to travelers – whether they be leisure travelers, group travelers or meeting planners as a way to showcase the experience in hiring a licensed battlefield guide.
