Destination Gettysburg has maintained a strong connection to Washington, D.C., because of its close proximity and historic connections between the two regions. Many visitors to Adams County, Pa. - especially group travelers – often visit both destinations. Our research with the California University of Pennsylvania's Tourism Research center indicates that Adams County is often a secondary destination, often to Washington.
This tour was a great opportunity for Destination Gettysburg as well as its tourism-related properties to showcase themselves with the DC-based tour guides. In turn, Destination Gettysburg believes that when given the opportunity, the guild will now have the knowledge to cross-promote Gettysburg, and vice-versa.
During their tour of Gettysburg, the tour guides visited with seven Gettysburg attractions and received important information about the Adams County destination.
