Since Flowers arrived in Gettysburg in 2005, the organization and its marketing have grown, the number of visitors has increased, and Destination Gettysburg’s stature in the community continues to advance.
Most importantly, the success of Destination Gettysburg over those 10 years has expanded the impact that tourism has on the local community – through visitor spending, tax revenue and the support of now more than jobs in Adams County. Since 2005, visitor spending has more than doubled from $311 million to $671 million; employment impacted by tourism increased from 7,232 to 7,612; and the amount generated in federal, state and local taxes has increased from $82.3 million to more than $131 million in 2015, according to statewide economic data.
Destination Gettysburg celebrates Flowers’s 10 years with the organization and looks forward to the future of marketing Adams County tourism.
