The Adams County tourism community is coming off a great spring season, which boasted an increase in overnight lodging demand through May, as compared to 2016. Additionally, the average daily room rate, as measured by Smith Travel Research, is up 3.1 percent over the same months last year.
"Though traditionally many of us see the anniversary week as the peak of the summer travel season, tourism is really just getting warmed up," said Norris Flowers, President of Destination Gettysburg. "Events - both big and small - are scheduled throughout July, August and September to keep visitation strong during the summer."
Annual summer events include Gettysburg Bike Week (July 6-9), Gettysburg 19th Century Base Ball Festival (July 14-16), Adams County Irish Festival (July 15), Gettysburg Rocks! (Aug. 11-13), Semi-Annual Bluegrass Festival (Aug. 17-20), Gettysburg Brew Fest (Aug. 19), Gettysburg Wine & Music Festival (Sept. 9-10) and World War II Weekend (Sept. 16-17) ... among many others.
