Story-telling platform to highlight people, places, experiences of Adams County, Pa. Destination Gettysburg, the official destination management organization of Adams County, Pa., unveiled this week a new marketing initiative aimed to highlight the stories of Adams County, Pa. The initiative provides visitors to the region a wider variety of experiences and interest travelers into staying longer. Increasingly, visitors to the Gettysburg region are looking to the destination to reconnect, slow down and appreciate the authenticity of its “sense of place.” This new project, titled “Authentic Adams County,” will feature the people, places and landscape that make Adams County unique and special to both visitors and local residents. These stories will be largely told through video, blogging and social media and highlight farmers, craftsmen, chefs, historians and others in the community to share their passion for the region as a way to draw visitors into a more robust experience, extending their stay. “While the Gettysburg battlefield and the Civil War history are – and will always be – the biggest draw to Adams County, Pa., we believe that by showcasing a wider variety of experiences – through culinary, agriculture and outdoor recreation – we will attract more visitors and interest them into staying longer in our region,” said Norris Flowers, President of Destination Gettysburg. These experiences in Gettysburg range from the outdoor recreation such as skiing and hiking, to culinary adventures at wineries, cideries and a great collection of restaurants, spas and golf courses, as well as the region’s rich history. Authentic Adams County’s first story – told through video – is that of Beau Ramsburg, a Gettysburg area farmer who partners with several restaurants throughout the region in providing food for their menus. The video also featured Chef Josh Fidler of Fidler & Co. Craft Kitchen in Biglerville, Pa., and both shared their passion for working together and with locally produced food for their customers. The project was unveiled as part of Destination Gettysburg’s Power of Tourism Luncheon, held in conjunction with National Travel & Tourism Week, May 1-7, 2016. |
