research and statistics

Destination Gettysburg bases its marketing strategy on research. Not only can this research identify how much money is being spent in Adams County, Pa., but it can provide the organization with the vital information in needs in regards to our visitors’ demographics, how long they are staying in our destination, and some of their spending habits.

This information is then used by Destination Gettysburg to establish its own strategy in reaching new visitors and extending their stay – thus increasing the benefits to the local economy.

Destination Gettysburg primarily uses two reports: a statewide economic report that identifies the impact that tourism provides to the county economy, its governments and the jobs that tourism supports and a visitor intercept survey that helps the organization understand the age, gender, income and other vital data of our existing visitors.

It should be noted that 2020 represented the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. For a more accurate representation of the economic impact of tourism in Adams County, please refer to 2019 or prior years as a comparison until 2021 data is released.
