Spending by international visitors using Visa credit cards in 2015 was more than $1.7 million, according to VisaVue, a report that measures spending among its customers. This spending marks a slight decrease from 2014.
While spending by Canadian visitors dropped, Adams County saw increases by British (+$9,255), Chinese (+$49,992), as well as many European countries such as France and Denmark. Puerto Rico and Mexico also posted sharp increases as well, according to the report. Spending by visitors from China, recognized as one of the fastest-growing markets for visitation to the United States, nearly doubled in 2015 when compared to the previous year. Additionally, the Chinese market moved from Adams County's fifth biggest international market to the third largest in 2015 with $109,498 in spending by Visa customers.
